Does the city's art epicenter move with Mary Boone? Art-watchers have pondered this question ever since Boone premeditated the end of the Soho art scene by moving her gallery to Midtown in the late nineties long before the mass exodus. That relocation brought with it a fitting new crop of prominent contemporary artists such as Francesco Clemente, Eric Fischel, and Barbara Kruger. In 2000, she opened a second warehouse space in Chelsea in a former taxi garage. Wherever she ends up, Mary Boone peddles art-world provocateurs.
