Walking into Openair is rather like finding yourself in an Aphex Twin video. If the mylar waterfall doesn't immediately space you out, stroll into the minimalist-décor middle room, loll on a couch and take in some of the soothing imagery playing on a strip of 16 TV screens embedded in the wall. Guest DJ's do their stuff in the back booth while big-pants-clad patrons chat, drink and wander around aimlessly. It would be tough to find a better place in which to be in an altered state of mind. Just don't attempt actual dancing, because Openair isn't licensed for it; besides, sudden movements might freak out the other patrons.
ExtraEvery Sunday afternoon is their well-known "Share" party where people can bring their own laptops and hook up to the bar's system to play music, exchange information or simply IM with friends.
On Thursday nights at this comedy venue, $7 gets you no less than four shows, pizza is free, and beer is a buck.
