Profile

Fendi’s popularity might have soared after Sarah Jessica and “Sex and the City,” but the end of the show hasn’t meant the end of the craze—far from it. The Karl Lagerfeld-designed brand still churns out “It” bags ( created by third-generation Fendi scion Sylvia) and high, haute fashion season after season. Signature Zucca and Zucchino handbags are classic favorites, but aficionados wait for the hottest celebrity-loving bags as soon as they come off the runway; like a dazzling mirrored vanity bag at a price that will rival your rent for a month (or two). Smaller leather goods are almost always available in the season’s latest styles. Clothing at the Fifth Avenue location reflects designer Karl Lagerfeld’s wilder side (in contrast to his more sophisticated designs for Chanel); you can always bet on a plethora of animal prints, edgy cuts, and lots of funky flair. Fur and skin are Fendi essentials, and Lagerfeld knows how to manipulate them to create museum-worthy pieces. Even add-ons like timepieces are grand, opulent, and definitely designed for those who like a lot of flash; shoes follow suit, with four-inch-plus heels and lots of sparkly hardware. With its gold motif and couture vibe, the boutique might be intimidating, but store associates are more than willing to assist—provided there’s a credit card at the ready.

Men's Watches

Classic Italian elegance on your wrist. The Zucca chronograph comes rimmed in bold stainless steel, while the Grand Tonneau, with its rounded oblong dial in shiny black, blue, or gray, lives up to its laudatory title.
