Profile

Billing itself as "the last live music venue on Avenue A," Sidewalk—which has hosted everyone from anti-folkies the Moldy Peaches to perpetually-about-to-break comedian Rick Shapiro—is not exactly a fine-dining destination (the presence on its menu of such culinary delights as grilled salmon notwithstanding). Still, if you want a beer and a decently charred burger, you're relatively safe here. That is if you're willing to put up with perplexingly slow service and the guitars, saxophones, and other musical instruments plastered to the ceiling, which give the place an East Village Hard Rock Café kind of vibe. Still, the name is Sidewalk, so while you’re waiting for your Kraft-caliber mac 'n cheese to show up, you can gaze out upon the drunken parade of Avenue A riff-raff just a few feet away—of which, after a few cheap $6 well drinks, you may soon be a part.
