Alice Roi
The Label
Alice Roi's eclectic charm and metropolitan sensibility help make her designs the epitome of modern New York style. Though she initially received attention for her wild colors and unpredictably short hems, Roi ‘s recent Bryant Park shows have notably used more blacks, browns, creamy pastels and muted patterns, some overlaid with monochromatic shapes or complementing detailing. Since launching in 1999, Roi’s stylishly feminine collections have been consistently featured in fashion magazines, and the designer herself has garnered numerous accolades, including a 2001 CFDA Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear nomination. The brand also includes handbags and accessories.
The Look
Vintage nostalgia mixed with modern sophistication; sexy cocktail dresses, perfect-fitting pants and flouncy separates.
The Designer
After studying fine arts at NYU and design at Parson’s, Roi went on to work at Elle magazine and Fashion Group International. Ditching fashion consulting in her early '20s, Roi founded her own design house in 1999; the career change paid off quickly—her first collection was snatched up by trend-setting New York' boutique Kirna Zabete.
