After months of cold-weather boots and coats, the mere sight of a sandal can inspire visions of spring, glorious spring. Especially when the sandal in question is an intensely red, chunky-heeled, raffia-embellished accessory from the Lanvin spring collection ($1,363 at Barneys New York, 660 Madison Ave., at 61st St.; 212-826-8900) created by designer Alber Elbaz, whose commitment to color is both sophisticated and unwavering. The shoe, which looks like it was born to have a waiting list, is good for daytime, with its sturdy heel and platform, but unquestionably sexy at night, thanks to its scarlet associations.
